The Jean Toussaint Quartet @ The Victory Club, Burlington House, Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham. GL50 2SY

Originally from St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, saxophonist Jean Toussaint left Berklee College of Music, Boston in 1982 to join Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Luckily, he finished up this side of the pond and is with us tonight.

On Piano tonight, Albert Palau is a young pianist and composer from Valencia who has become a stalwart of the Spanish jazz scene. His experience includes playing with renowned international and local artists such as Cristian McBride, Pat Metheny, Nelson Cascais, and a host of others.

On bass we have Alex Davis, one the busiest and most in-demand young bass players in the UK, past performances including Jason Rebello, Perico Sambeat and René Marie to name but a few.

Drummer tonight, Ben Brown, Jean Toussant says of him : “Ben Brown is, without doubt, one of my favourite young jazz drummers. He is musically interactive, highly creative and really listens and supports a performance from beginning to end with great imagination. This young man has a great future of music making ahead of him”

So, It should be a great evening in the Ballroom!
